Guille Abal

Dance Movement Therapy Student
Auckland Regional Centre

Guille, originally from Argentina, moved to Aotearoa in 2008. Music has always been an integral part of her life, which she has expressed through dance. Her diverse background includes skills in tango dance, body expression, acting, yoga, education, customer service, and currently, first-year studies in Dance Movement Therapy at DTTA. She also holds a bachelor's degree in law and a postgraduate diploma in environmental community planning, with a focus on human rights.

Guille believes in the transformative power of music, movement, and creativity in facilitating emotional expression and social interaction. Her interest in physiology and the mind-body connection has inspired her to pursue a career as a Dance Movement Therapist.

As a student, she aims to expand her knowledge and expertise across various creative therapies, working with different populations and modalities. As a mother of three, Guille has developed a deep understanding of child development and the importance of creating a supportive and stimulating environment to foster self-confidence and lifelong learning through music and play.

In addition to her studies, Guille is actively engaged in training with Music Rhapsody and EMA as a preschool music teacher. She also works with Dance 4 Us - DTNZ as an assistant to the lead Dance Movement Therapist, supporting young adults and adults with disabilities.

Guille is passionate about empowering individuals to discover their uniqueness and develop a sense of connection. She is excited about the opportunity to contribute to the growth of individuals facing emotional, intellectual, physical, or social challenges through music therapy.

In her spare time, Guille enjoys reading, gardening, cooking, spending time in nature, and enjoying moments with family and friends.
