Diversity statement
We believe the strength of our work lies in the diversity of those who shape it.
We are committed to creating space for those who have been historically excluded from educational and training opportunities that provide pathways to registration as a music therapist. We acknowledge the role of colonisation and racism in determining what is and is not considered to be music therapy in Aotearoa, and actively support voices in this space from groups who have too often been overlooked in music therapy and elsewhere.
Our team must reflect the communities we serve. That’s why we welcome those from all backgrounds, especially those who bring lived experience and perspectives that challenge the status quo.
